After their defeat in the battle of Badr the leaders of the Quraysh plot an attack on the Prophet PBUH. They decide to target Hamzah Ibn Abdul-Mutalib who had joined the ranks of the Prophet PBUH and who was responsible for the death of many of their people. The battle went on and Hamzah was martyred, at the hands of Wahshi Ibn Harb.
