The Quraysh failed to assassinate the Prophet PBUH because of Ali aiding his escape. They decide to focus on keeping Ali in Mecca as they feared him and the role he played in the message of the Prophet PBUH. The Prophet PBUH told Ali to not fear harm as it would not befall him and entrusted his daughter Fatima to Ali. He remained for several days and then escaped Mecca with the Fatimid women from Bani Hashem.
