The king, known for his pride, gathers his three sons, and asks each of them to prove their love to him. The two oldest boys succeed in pleasing their father, but the king is shocked when the youngest son Satam tells him that he loves him as much as he loves "salt”. The king is offended, expels his son from the town, allowing him to leave with only water and a handful of salt. Sattam walks in the desert trying to stay alive when he arrives in a strange town, where they suddenly make him a king.
